In a recent interview, Kamal Haasan shared that he was originally approached to play the lead role in "Enthiran". Director Shankar first contacted Kamal Haasan for the project. However, Kamal Haasan declined the offer. He cited several reasons for his decision.

Reasons for Declining the Role

Kamal Haasan mentioned that scheduling conflicts were a primary reason. He had other commitments and could not allocate the required dates for the project. Additionally, there were concerns about the salary and market conditions at that time. 

Kamal Haasan thought that Shankar might drop the project altogether. But to his surprise, Shankar moved forward with Rajinikanth, leading to the film's immense success.

Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai's Chemistry

"Enthiran" showcased the unique pairing of Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai. It was the first time Aishwarya Rai was paired with Rajinikanth. The film's plot revolved around Dr. Vaseegaran creating a robot, Chitti, which later turns against him. 

The chemistry between Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai was well-received by the audience. Rajinikanth shared a humorous incident where his friend asked who the hero of the movie was, given that Aishwarya Rai was also starring in it.
